To create this photography short I used an app on my phone called Stop motion. It consisted of taking around 169 photos to create this 33 second video. It took around half an hour to take all the pictures as it took a few shots to match it up to the previous photo with only slight movements. It took twenty minutes for me to edit it adding titles and credits along with captions. I really enjoyed doing this as it was fun and I loved the improvisation. No one has seen this yet however, I will be posting it on the Facebook page to get feedback.

One Click
My original photo film was utterly rubbish it had no story and was about three seconds long so I decided to re create it. below is what I came up with;

Family time
I feel this photo is the perfect example of spring. I have seen many Goose and Gosling's wondering around York and found a perfect opportunity to take a family photo. II love the colours and the positions of the Goose and Gosling's.

Blog Box
Below is the live recording of a talk show I was apart of;
This was a very stressful experience for me.
My job role was Vision mixer and as I had never used the equipment I was
worried about the overall project and letting the team down. When it came to
the day we went live we had two hours to rehearse beforehand. During rehearsal
I made many mistakes with the vision mixer and stress was starting to
overtake me. As the VT's had to be re burned, we had to rehearse with void
VT's. When the new VT's had been burnt and given to the team we had one proper
rehearsal.
When we went live I
was nervous and stressed throughout. I made a few mistakes during the live
recording, that being a bit slow with transitioning between the first VT and
the studio. Also during the interview because I had to go by instinct and how
the conversation flows I was a bit jumpy between cameras at the start.
However, towards the end of the interview I found it a bit easier to predict
who would speak and which camera to change too.
Although this was stressful and worrying
I enjoyed the overall experience as it made me feel like I was working in a
real studio and because I love to learn new things and use new equipment. As I
was a week late in starting this project I couldn't bring forward ideas as the
rest of the group had already put in place a strong and well rounded show
prepared. I feel although the plans were thought out well they weren't
delivered as imagined as things were done late and a few hiccups happened.
Meetings we had didn't go as well as we
planned as people didn't turn up to meetings and people didn't turn up to
lessons when we needed time to rehearse and map out exactly how we would go
about setting the studio. During the meetings I attended we discussed the schedule
of the show, the length and set design. I took notes during these. When we
weren't in meetings or lessons the group kept in contact through Facebook after
creating a group on messenger. Despite this the team worked really hard and we
got everything done in time.
If I were to do
this again I would have practised more with the vision mixer. I would
have still put my ideas forward as the production was early enough to change. I
would have also liked to have had more of a leadership role. I would have also
liked to have decorated the set a bit more but with the resources and
things available I am aware this would not be realistically achievable.
When in the studio it is important that wires
are properly placed to stop people from tripping over it and making sure all
fire exits are clear to ensure a safe exit in the event of a fire. As
communication is a big part of a successful production I feel we did really
well to keep to this by having meetings, constantly in contact through Facebook
and texting, minute taking in meetings and in classes giving us more time to
rehearse and polish any problems.
As the subjects we had chosen to feature were
of tragedy we had to make sure that we handled and delivered the material as
delicately as possible as not to create any kind of distress for anyone who may
watch it. Also as we were using some comedy throughout the show we decided that
when addressing the tragedy section we didn't have any jokes as that would
dampen the seriousness that was the story.
As the vision mixer it was important that the
communication between me, the director and floor manager was clear and simple.
I worked really closely with the director to give her as close to her vision of
the shots and cuts throughout the production. However, with the lack of resources on the set design and skills we had I had to make it clear that we
wouldn't be able to do certain things.
Throughout the production we all took the
role of team leader as we all were constantly giving ideas and explaining the
direction we would go down for the production. We all agreed on the final piece
which was really good I feel as everyone was happy with how it turned out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this production because
even though we were doing serious stories we had fun in the studios, we made it
a fun and lovable atmosphere. I would love to work with the group again as the
personalities and talents of the team were brilliant and infectious.

Carlsberg VS Amstel
I used a simple filter on my phone camera to create the colours. I like the contrast between the colours as the pints stand out and creates an almost autumn colour pallet feel to it.

I am king.
I took this photo at Dublin zoo. As the tiger walked towards te glass I felt this was a perfect opportunity to capture the power and pride of the tiger. Although if I were to get the opportunity to shoot it again I would have tried to get the legs within the frame.

The Voices In My head
Above Is my Self Portrait- The
Voices In My Head;
This was something very close to my heart. It
represents the struggle I have with myself every day. If I could change one
thing about this production It would be to find someone else to act in it as I
feel the overall production would have a better representation of my thoughts
and fears if an aspiring or professional actress performed in it.
When I edited the piece I found it hard as I
didn't like watching myself on screen and re living my thoughts. I also found
it hard to create and edit the sound within it because I didn't want the music
and the sounds to dampen the story. I also upon watching the footage back in the edit suite that there is major continuity with my hair jumping from being tucked behind my ear to on my face.
The camera used was a DSLR. which Annie Sutton
operated during the shoot. I also had Mary to help with setting things up and
helping Annie. I used Avid to edit the footage and sound. When reviewing the
footage people said it was good they liked the story and that I gave it a name
rather than just Self Portrait. They liked that it was mainly black and white
and how I edited it to fade it to colour towards the end.

Favourite film or television ending
The best ending to a television show or film for me has to be Friends. The group are stood in the no empty apartment of Monica and Chandlers. As they have been many a time during the shows progression. They are all reminiscing on the times they had there. And how at one point each person of the group had lived there. They then leave their keys for the super and go to leave, Rachel asks "(crying) Do you guys have to go to the new house right away, or do you have some time?"

Rachel: Okay, should we get some coffee?
Chandler: Sure. Where?" Ending the show with a joke that regular viewers would only understand. To me it made me feel connected to the show and I felt like the show ended on an all time high. It has been ten years since the final episode was first aired and although it is no longer on our TV screens there have been many rumours of a film. However, although very sad I feel a film or another series could potentially ruin the great ending which Friends already had.

The Beast script sample

The beast is about a girl running away from something you don't know what you don't know why all you know is she is scared, scared that this thing is going to catch her. Although this is a horror I feel it has an emotional side to it with the different representations of the connection between the two characters. That being;
The woman being haunted by her childhood
The woman scared about her future with children etc. Bottom right is an extract from the short:

Script writing development
Since starting University my script writing skills have developed dramatically. I can describe a scene, character, and movement with the shortest yet most detailed sentences. whilst at university I have used the book Film Art: an introduction to help with my studies. The section about screen writing has helped me immensely.
As you can see from the image to the right every page of that section of my copy is filled with post it notes and scribbles all over from me questioning parts to developing more of an understanding of how to write a great screen play. As the route of writing is something I am seriously considering going down I feel that the further my development goes the easier and better my writing shall become.

Go- The sound edit
Above is the film GO that I had to edit sound for;
For this task we were given a choice of six
clips to place a soundtrack on using Avid. When I chose Go the footage was
completely wiped of sound and we didn't even have a back story to go by. I
recorded sounds such as footsteps, voices etc. However, I used freesound.org
for most of my sounds. When editing sound together I found it easy and
enjoyable. I chose The Beatles Song because I felt it fitted the atmosphere for
the dance routine perfectly.
I struggled to find a sound that fit small
boxes hitting the floor. My teacher pointed this out that she liked that I
covered every little sound as without these sounds the audience would notice
and it would make you jump out of the film. I finally found the sound by using
the sound of jumping in the snow. it worked really well.
The only thing I would change next time is the
footsteps and the heartbeat as the sound levels were wrong when it was played
through the speakers. I would also place sounds of the actors rolling and throwing the food during the dance scene.

The Lord Of The Rings rough edit
Above is the rough edit of the fellowship of the ring scene in The Lord Of The Rings;
We were given the
instruction of edit it how we feel it should be and to not necessarily follow
the script. Using Avid I accessed the footage, created and sorted my bins by
character. As I began to play with the footage I was really unsure on what
angle to go down. So I decided I would keep it close to the script but how I
would have wanted the scene to go. I really enjoy editing and Using Avid it was
really interesting to use something different. I managed to link different
shots with the same sound and sync the footage up correctly to create fluidity.
When it was shown to a
group of people they really liked it. A few people in the group were shocked to
find a Gandalf shot which I had found searching through the footage. The
teacher pointed out on my timeline that I had carried the sound from one clip
slightly to another. He stated that this was a good thing as it makes the scene
flow more fluidly.
If I were to do it again I would
have chose a different direction in which to take the scene. I would have
focused more on the metastrategy rather than how I remembered the actual edit
that was used for the feature film. Thursday, 7 November 2013
Lady Gaga
I created this cut out animation
in college for an assignment. I decided that I wanted to make it about
Lady Gaga as I thought I had a good idea to represent her mind. I got some
photos of Lady Gaga and her motorbike and cut them to make her mouth move. I then drew a road on two pieces of black
card I had stuck together.
I used IStop Motion to film it. I then edited
the sound on Garage band. I then used IMovie to create the titles and credits.
Although it isn't the best cut out animation I feel that a little more time
spend on it would have made it better and seem less.
